Why social media is a useful tool for global industries when managing a project or campaign

  • Create a large presence and hype, for example hash tags can be used to create trending topics 
  • Can reach large audiences and target them specifically through social media
  • Social medias are use full to global industries as it allows for collaboration

This website allows for a company to display and organise all neccesarry task that had to be completed, this website also allows for these projects and timing to be tracked whilst also providing key milestones that can be accessed on line by all those involved on the project.

This service provides cloud storage for company's, this allows for collaboration on project files such as production plans and scripts in real time from various team members. The ability for these documents to be saved in cloud also means that they can be accessed at any time and any place providing there is Internet connection. Furthermore, they also provide apps across windows, mac linux and appstores making it accessible to a large range of users.

LO2: Social media, globalisation and moral panic

Moral Panic - Stanley Cohen: Public disorder caused when mass media stirrs something up. A panic in press about something that may have a negative impact on a section of society. Panics such a rise in self harm among teens is blamed to the rise of social media. The hysteria over trolls is a classic moral panic The scale of trolling is over exaggerated  Females targeted more than males I agree with as the rise of social media has just made it more prevalent, subjects such as trolling and bullying still occurred more frequently as social media makes it easier and provides anonymity.

Crowfunding - Gaining funding for a project from an appeal to the public. Crowdsourcing - Gaining assets for a project from an appeal to the public. Globalisation - Way in which international boundries that once excisted are broken down by the advent of new technologies. Examples of globalisation include: McDonalds, Starbucks and Disney Global Reach The way in which a product has the potential to reach a global audience owing to new methods of distribution. Global Village - The idea that physical boundries between countires appear smaller owing to new media tehnologies and that because of this the world is actually one big village where everyone can communicate to each other in an instant. The theorist who discussed this orginally was Marshall McLuhan (1964).
